Sleep Apnea Treatment in Jackson, MS

If you struggle to sleep through the night or wake up exhausted, sleep apnea treatment focuses on helping you breathe freely and sleep deeply. Sleep apnea isn’t just about snoring; it’s about your health, energy, and quality of life.

At Capital Dental, we use SomnoMed® oral appliances to help treat obstructive sleep apnea. Worn during sleep, SomnoMed® devices gently position the jaw forward to maintain an open airway, reducing snoring and apnea episodes. Unlike CPAP machines, they’re silent, noninvasive, and travel-friendly, enhancing sleep quality and daily alertness.

01.

Starting Your Sleep Apnea Treatment

In an initial consultation, we’ll discuss your health history, learn about your struggles with sleep apnea, take digital scans, and conduct a sleep test.

Using that information, we partner with SomnoMed® to craft your customized sleep apnea appliance. This will take a few weeks and once ready, you’ll return to our office to ensure your device fits properly.

02.

Your SomnoMed® Sleep Apnea Device

Once we’ve fitted and adjusted your SomnoMed® device, you will wear it at night while you sleep to keep your airways open and manage sleep apnea problems.

If you have any issues with the fit of your device or are experiencing discomfort, please contact our office so we can adjust it.

FAQ

  • How is sleep apnea diagnosed?

A dentist may suspect sleep apnea during an exam by noticing signs like worn teeth, dry mouth, or jaw issues. They often review symptoms such as snoring or fatigue, then recommend a sleep study to confirm.

  • Is consistent, loud snoring a sign of sleep apnea?

If you wake up tired or gasping and have persistent snoring, it could be a sign of sleep apnea and should be checked out.

  • What problems can sleep-disordered breathing cause?

Conditions like sleep apnea disrupt normal airflow during sleep, leading to poor oxygen levels and fragmented rest. This can cause excessive daytime fatigue, mood swings, poor concentration, and increased risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke, and diabetes. Left untreated, it severely impacts overall health, quality of life, and even safety in daily activities like driving.
